The purpose of this online seminar is to highlight the contribution of large and industrial heat pumps to Europe’s industrial strategy, specifically to the decarbonization of Europe’s manufacturing sector.
As part of the EU milestone to make leaps in energy efficiency savings and a 55% GHG emissions cut by 2030, real time industrial high-temperature heat pump test will go through its demonstration paces at Lindum in Norway next month. The Horizon 2020 DryFiciency open loop, high-temperature heat pump demonstrations are the first-ever validations in industrial settings for utilizing heat of up to 155 degrees Celsius, using technology developed by a consortium of Nordic champions Rotrex, Epcon and Scanship led by the leading Scandinavian research organisation SINTEF.
Veronika Wilk and Michael Bantle joined a white paper presentation on the importance of heat pumps on strengthening industrial heat pump innovation in Europe demonstrated by the DryFicicency project.
The first industrial high-temperature heat pump has been put in to demonstration at Wienerberger Österreich GmbH, Utterdorf site, located in Upper Austria. The heat pump utilises industrial processes‘ waste heat for increased efficicency gain.
Veronika Wilk gave a paper presentation “High temperature heat pumps for industrial processes – application and potential” focusing on the DryF high temperature heat pump developed and successfully demonstrated for brick drying at Wienerberger including also a techno-economic assessment thereof.
Heat pumps will play a major role in the upcoming „New Industrial Strategy for the EU“ and here are some of the reasons why they should.
Thomas Laminger, Assistant Production Manager of AGRANA, showcased the operation of the DryFiciency closed loop heat pump system at AGRANA’s wheat starch processing facility in Pischeldorf, AT at the recent EHPA online event.
On Thursday the 29th of October at 15:00 (CET) TNO are organizing an interactive session with presentations, interviews, polls and questions from the audience to interact with policy makers and industry stakeholders on the importance and the impact that Heat Pumps can have in industrial processes and why awareness is so important on this topic to meet the climate goals.
Among the speakers there will be the experts that contributed to the white paper, including Veronika Wilk (AIT) and Michael Bantle (SINTEF) who will share the latest developments of the DryFiciency project mentioned in the whitepaper as best practise example.
