On Sept 9th 2019, SINTEF Energi AS arranged in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark, and the Danish Technological Institute and with financial support from the Research Council of Norway, the 2nd Conference on High Temperature Heat Pumps in Copenhagen. The event was opened with a keynote lecture by Thomas Nowak, Secretary General of EHPA, the European Heat Pump Association, who outlined in his speech the importance of high-temperature heat pumps, their potential contribution to reaching the climate targets, and the need to further educate stakeholders, especially policy makers. In the subsequent three sessions, the general potential and demand for high temperature heat pumps was addressed as well as ongoing developments and trends for this technology in Europe, but also Japan. In addition, successful industrial cases and integration examples were presented. In the final poster session, PhD students as well as senior researchers presented their current research work on heat pump technology to the audience. Veronika Wilk (AIT), has given an overview of demonstration and application examples of industrial high temperature heat pumps in Austria, including, amongst other Austrian projects, the DryFiciency project in general, and the two closed loop heat pump demonstrations at Agrana and Wienerberger in particular. Christian Schlemminger and Jonas Leibrecht (both SINTEF) presented in the poster session a poster on the cost-effective Rotrex Turbo compressor further developed in the DryFiciency project to be implemented in the open loop heat pump system for sludge drying.
