From October 22nd to 23th 2019 the European heat pump world met in Nuremberg at the European Heat Pump Summit to discuss the heat pump market, its latest technology and application trends. In addition, product presentation at the Foyer-Expo supplemented the variety of information provided by the speakers.
Mid-October 2019 the „Electrification Europe 2019 International Summit“ will be held in Paris, France. The focus of this event is to highlight solutions for a decarbonized future for Europe.
The ICR conference is the world’s leading event for research and industry in the HVACR sector taking place every four years. 850 participants from 45 countries participated in the 25thIIR Congress on Refrigeration held in Montreal from 24th to 30th August 2019. In total, 534 oral presentations based on manuscripts were given in 9 workshops which covered all topics relevant for refrigeration including also (high temperature) heat pumps and energy recovery. Additionally, 72 posters were presented.
On Sept 9th 2019, SINTEF Energi AS arranged in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark, and the Danish Technological Institute and with financial support from the Research Council of Norway, the 2nd Conference on High Temperature Heat Pumps in Copenhagen.
EHPA´s second edition of ‘’Large Scale Heat Pumps in Europe’’ brochure with DryFiciency and its high temperature heat pumps for industrial drying processes at Agrana and Wienerberger is published.
Heat pump applications are well known in residential sector, but they are much less recognized for their contribution and potential in commercial and industrial applications. That is why EHPA decided to publish a second edition of ‘’Large Scale Heat Pumps in Europe’’ brochure. DryFiciency will participate with its project on high temperature heat pumps for industrial drying processes at Agrana and Wienerberger.
On the 9th of April, policymakers discussed with representatives of industry, civil society and researchers about the next policy actions needed to seize the opportunities that high capacity and high-temperature heat pumps can provide to production processes in many industrial applications.
On the 7th of February, DryFiciency participated in the high-level meeting “Renewable heating in the pulp and paper industry, assessing potentials of innovative solutions”. Organised by EHPA, CEPI and Solar Heat Europe, the meeting was part of the European Industry Week 2019 by the European Commission.
Fuchs Schmierstoffe is developing, within the DryFiciency project, a unique synthetic lubricant for high-temperature heat pumps. This lubricant is chemically stable when combined with OpteonMZ, which is a novel, non-flammable and non-toxic new refrigerant from Chemours, that is not subject to the F-gas regulation. The lubricant is being used for two compressor technologies in DryFiciency project – an adapted screw compressor by Bitzer and a new piston compressor technology by Viking Heat Engines.
Several SPIRE contractors met in Brussels on 7th & 8th of February 2019 to exchange ideas and foster cooperation. SPIRE Public-Private Partnership projects boost the innovation capacity of the European process industries, which represents 20% of the total European manufacturing sector and provides 25 million jobs.
